Settings on the watch

Hold UP, pick Watch Face, select Flapboard, press START, then Customize. The menu is drawn in the style of the board: your Goal log, a short How it works guide, the board, the typeface, the three rows, and switches for the falling flaps, the seconds lights, the always-on digits and brightness. The same settings are in Garmin Connect if you prefer the phone.

A split-flap board on your wrist

The time sits on four large flaps in a recessed case with four screws. Each flap has a lit upper half and a shaded lower half, a hinge gap and two pivots. When a digit changes, the old flap falls. When you raise your wrist, the three data rows flip into place. Twelve lights under the board count the seconds in steps of five.

Make it yours

  • Five boards: Airport (black and yellow), Station (green and cream), Midnight (navy and blue), Terminal (grey and orange), Red Line (black and red).
  • Three typefaces for the flaps: Condensed, Geometric, Technical.
  • Three rows, each one of twelve: steps with your goal percentage, heart rate, watch battery, next sunrise or sunset, Body Battery, floors, calories, distance, intensity minutes, altitude, temperature, notifications.
  • Falling flaps, seconds lights and always-on brightness can each be switched off.

If your watch has no value for a row, the flaps show -- rather than a made-up number.

Goal log

Each day you reach the step goal set on your watch is a goal day. The Goal log shows your goal days, your current and best streak and the last seven days. On watches with a touchscreen, press and hold the face to see the log right on the board. Hold again to hide it.

Always-on

A separate always-on design on a black screen: outlined flaps, thin digits, the date and your steps. Pick the digits: Thin, or one of the three typefaces. It shifts slightly every minute to protect the screen.

Compatible with Garmin AMOLED watches listed below. English only. Nothing leaves the watch.
